OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT - CORTICULTURALCLASSIC 2025

CONSIDERING THAT:

The purpose of the NAPOLI CULTURAL CLASSIC Association is the enhancement of art forms related to the knowledge of Territories through the creation of short films made with any technique, addressing themes linked to the cultural and natural environment. The works, expressing strong values and meaningful content, are intended to be part of this focus.

Given the significant cultural and cinematic journey undertaken by the Association, especially concerning first and copyright works awarded at the Napoli Cultural Classic Festival, such as "Pater Familias" (2003) by Francesco Patierno, "Follow the Shadows" (2004) by Lucio Gaudino, "Mother Nature" (2005) by Massimo Andrei, "Night Before Exams" (2006) by Fausto Brizzi, "Cover-boy" (2006) by Carmine Amoruso, "Another Planet" (2009) by Tummolino, "Eighteen Years Later" (2010) by Edoardo Leo; "Behind the Dark" (2011) by director Giorgio Pressburger; "Mister America" (2013) by Leonardo Ferrari, "Come Live in Naples" (2016) by Edoardo De Angelis, Guido Lombardo, and Francesco Prisco, the Association aims to promote this attention in 2023.

CINECI’ 2026

, Cinema and Food, is the spinoff of a film competition organized for thirteen years by the NAPOLI CULTURAL CLASSIC Association, previously known as CORTICULTURALCLASSIC, in collaboration with the Department of Culture of the municipality of Palma Campania (NA).

CINECI’, Cinema and Food – WHAT IT IS?

A competition for short films, documentaries, video creations or interviews, and other films with a closed or open-ended plot. The subsequent Festival aims to showcase the production of materials on the proposed theme to the local audience, the online audience, and especially young people, particularly those attending technical schools related to food. This showcase focuses on food habits, customs, and practices: how to procure it, how to consume it, and more, through freely themed stories. Therefore, the festival includes a separate section for young foreign filmmakers from all European Union countries. The goal is to broaden the focus on as many food cultures as possible.

CINECI’, Cinema and Food – MISSION

A showcase that hosts works of various genres and origins, of various formats, aims to conduct a survey, an evaluation, like a real investigation, an examination of expressions, not only youthful and artistic, related to the topic. CINECI’, Cinema and Food is an opportunity to express or narrate one's opinion, one's point of view, or simply highlight some aspects of daily life. Short films allow for artistic expression with tones of reflection, bitterness, irony, or even comedy. There is no limit to creative imagination, as long as it fits within the indicated theme. The intention is to emphasize and draw attention to video-cinematic creations produced and shot in the last two years, leading to considerations and messages that can be a pleasant way to learn about the external world, discover new cultural models, or reflect on how we navigate the field of nutrition.

CINECI’, Cinema and Food – ACTIONS

The competition involves an official announcement indicating the works eligible to participate and how they can be submitted. The announcement, published online and on specialized cinema and non-cinema sites, specifies the prizes that will be awarded in various categories (best short film, best documentary, direction, music, etc.). Materials, as in previous editions, must be submitted by the deadline. Subsequently, the collected works will be examined by a technical jury (to be defined) and one composed of cultural associations in the municipality of Palma Campania. The finalists, arriving in the final three by summing up votes, will be invited to the AWARD CEREMONY, scheduled as per the announcement on the website www.napoliculturalclassic.it, tentatively in September 2025. They will be hosted by the Municipality of Palma Campania (NA), with travel, meals, and accommodation covered by the organization. During the final award ceremony under the artistic direction of Massimo Andrei, prizes will be publicly awarded to young filmmakers.

The "Salvatore Ferrara" cash prize will be awarded to the Best Short Film, along with the presentation of the motivation and the statuette symbolizing the Festival. Special prizes or scholarships will be awarded during the festival.

Given all this, the competition is regulated by the following ANNOUNCEMENT:

A. Short films eligible for the competition must:

1a. Have a maximum duration of 30 minutes;

2a. Address the theme of eating habits or at least include it, in case the main theme is different. Food, food production activities (agriculture, winemaking, etc.), the world of industry, and issues related to eating habits, customs, and disorders are preferred. Works with ironic, comedic, dramatic, or sociological tones are equally accepted.

3a. Be submitted in digital format with a link and password or simply as clear files.

4a. Not contain advertising messages.

5a. Participation in the competition is exempt from registration fees and therefore free.

6a. Films shot, recorded, or dubbed in foreign languages must necessarily have subtitles in Italian or English, or they will be excluded from the competition.

B. Documentaries, video interviews, docufiction, animated shorts, and video creations eligible for the competition must:

1b. Have a maximum duration of 40 minutes.

2b. Address the theme indicated by the competition.

C. Materials to be sent include:

1c. Entry form;

2c. Brief biography and filmography of the author;

3c. Any promotional material (posters, brochures, press books, or free reviews);

4c. The submission of materials is the responsibility of the participants. For those choosing to participate by postal mail, the use of registered mail with acknowledgment of receipt is recommended, clearly indicating the following recipient:

5c. Works must be sent to the above address by april 30, 2026. The submission of short film links with access passwords to the email address info@culturalclassic.it is also allowed, and the notification receipt will be valid.

6c. Each author-director can submit only one work produced in the last two years.

7c. Works received on a different medium than indicated in point 3a or sent after the maximum deadline will be excluded from the competition. Works that arrive damaged or are unable to be clearly viewed will not be considered.

8c. The Organization of the competition is not responsible for damage or loss of materials during the sending and holding of the event.

9c. Authors of the works are responsible for the content of their respective works and the dissemination of non-original music protected by copyright, as well as original music and/or images.

10c. The sent works will become part of the archive of the "Napoli Cultural Classic" Association. They may be shown for cultural and educational purposes without profit.

11c. The Association reserves the right to use the received material for any subsequent events, with the obligation to mention the source and inform the authors or rights holders.

12c. Documentaries will be part of a special category awarded in the Best Documentary section.

13c. Short films and documentaries selected by the Jury from those received will be published and projected, where there are no contractual impediments, on the website www.culturalclassic.it exclusively for the days preceding the event. It is clarified that the screening of finalist short films for the public in the two days before the award ceremony is free.

14c. Please note that the authors and actors of the foreign short films selected in the shortlist for the award will only be guaranteed board and lodging for the awards ceremony.

D. School Program:

1d. A special section will be dedicated to works (documentary/short film) made by high schools on social themes related to the competition theme, important to young people and representative of their territories. The participation of schools' works will be a formative element and credit for all students who have created the short film or documentary.

2d. The participation of schools in the competition-scholarship "CINECI’, Cinema and Food-CortiCulturalClassic 2026" aims to bring young people closer to the art of cinema. Students must demonstrate their intellectual, human, and technical abilities by producing a short film, thus becoming aware of their responsibilities in terms of collective synergies. Winners will be awarded scholarships.
